Forest Green Rovers, like most non-league football clubs are reliant upon the help and support they get from their fans and in recent weeks, several members of the FGR Supporters Trust have rallied to the call for voluntary help on busy match days.
It isn’t always easy to find competent and reliable staff to work for a limited number of hours but the Trust has agreed to help out in the Club’s own public house, the Green Man, by serving behind the bar, collecting empty pots and serving up hot food for a couple of hours before kick off and again during the half time period by serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.
Acting Trust Chairman Tim Barnard said, “we have known for a while that the Club finds it very difficult to find local staff to help out for short periods and having experienced some of the queues, we thought it would be useful if we could do our bit by helping Paula, Leslie and their teams out on the days when we know that the stadium is likely to be much busier. It seems to have worked well and we look forward continuing the arrangement. We are a friendly club and the visiting supporters seem to enjoy the fact that they are being served by the home fans”.
The Trust and the Club could do with more fans helping out on match days and if you are willing to get involved, do your bit and keep the Club costs to a minimum, then let us know. Just go to the Contact link on this site and send your message and details to the Trust Secretary.
