Since May 2009, Bob Savage has represented the Supporters Trust on the main Club Board.
Bob has continued to work tirelessly, full time on behalf of the Club on all fronts, to further the Clubs interests particularly on the non football and marketing side of the Company. He has represented the Trust ably through what has now been revealed as a tempestuous time with regards to cashflow. He has worked with the other Board Directors to oversee the Constitution Change and the first steps to shareholder ownership. At all times Bob has complied with the “Supporters Direct” Code of Conduct for Club Board members, issued by SD as guidance to Trust representatives.
Bob will be standing down from the Trust Board at this Saturday’s Trust AGM and will therefore also also stand down as Trust Representative on the Club Board.
In order to ensure a smooth transition, Trust board memberTom Williams has been invited to join the Club Board and he attended his first Club Board meeting earlier this month prior to the second shareholders meeting last Friday.
Bob will remain involved with the Club and has been co-opted to the Club Board as Company Secretary.
Tom will serve as a Club Board member until the Club AGM on 20 May 2010, where all Club Directors will stand down and new Directors will be elected by the shareholders.
Tom will be nominated by the Trust to stand for the New Club Board when it is voted on at the AGM on 20 May.
Tom Williams moved to Gloucestershire in 1977. He became interested in Forest Green Rovers when his younger daughter persuaded him that it would be a good idea to support his local football team and has been visiting The Lawns, old and new, since 1998. His two daughters have now moved away but he still lives in Kings Stanley with wife Lesley, and has recently become a grandparent.
Tom started out with an Economics degree from the London School of Economics and an MBA from London Business School in the mid 1970’s. He now runs an Office Supplies business in Stonehouse, and keeps bees.
He is also a District Councillor at SDC, representing Cainscross, and he sit on the Council’s Performance Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
As the Trusts nominee on the Board he hopes to be able to act as a two way communication channel between fans and owners.
Although times are difficult just at the moment, the facilities at the New Lawn can provide the base for a successful future for FGR. He hopes to be part of the team that turns the hope into reality.
